Thelma & Louise musical coming from Seyfried & Wood?
Amanda Seyfried is working on a major musical with Evan Rachel Wood, and it's now speculated to be an adaptation of the 1991 film Thelma & Luise.
Amanda Seyfried was one of a handful of winners at the 80th Golden Globe Awards who couldn't attend. Seyfried – who won Best Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or TV Movie for the Hulu series The Dropout, in which she played controversial Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, had good reason not to attend the ceremony. According to the moderators, Seyfried was "deep in the process of creating a new musical." But it's not a revival of the mean girls musically or even more Oh mom!since Seyfried reportedly workshopt a musical version of it Thelma & Luise.
While the specifics aren't confirmed as to what exactly that is Thelma & Luise Musical might include Amanda Seyfried wrote a post Videos on Instagram confirmed that she was indeed working on a musical. In the video, Seyfried said in part: "It's a true honor to have been a part of it. I had to miss it because I'm doing something magical and musical. So I can finally do something I've never really done before. That's all I can really say about it. Hopefully more soon. But it's a lot of work. It's more fun and it was a great night.”
The news comes from insiders offering information to Variety who further noted "a Thelma & Luise The musical has been in the works since at least 2021, with the film's screenwriter Callie Khouri attached and writing the book with Haley Feiffer, and indie singer/songwriter Neko Case creating the score." Khouri won the film's only Oscar from six nominations, including Best Director and two rare Best Actress nominations for the same film, here for Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon (both would lose to Jodie Foster). The silence of the Lambs).
While it's unclear exactly what role Amanda Seyfried and Evan Rachel Wood would play—assuming they both direct production—both cast members have small but impressive works in motion picture musicals. Seyfried was part of the above Oh mom! movies while Wood showed off her singing skills in 2007's Beatle maniacal through the universe. She also recently played Madonna in Strange: The Al Yankovic Story.
