Rian Johnson and producer Ram Bergman reveal what needs to happen before they can sharpen another sequel

The sequel to 2019's Johnson's Whodunit is part of a unique rollout that will see the film run in theaters for a month before arriving on Netflix 23rd of December. During a lengthy discussion with meeting around glass onionsaid producer Ram Bergman that it was "very very important" to get the film into theaters to qualify it for the Oscars and generate buzz before the crime thriller debuts on Netflix. Bergman says the power of watching the film with 400 other people increases the experience, and glass onion want a piece of the action.

"Oh yeah, we're thinking about it" says Bergman knife from 3, "But first this movie has to come out, then Rian has to clear his head, take a break and then go ahead and get started. I mean, he's been thinking about it."

But to be honest, the third film has been the most exciting creative thing for me in the last few months. And so I think I'll hop right in. Not because of any contractual obligation, but that's really the shiny object I'm finding my nose on right now. [It’s] the idea of figuring out how it can be totally different from both this one and the first.”
Luckily, Johnson already has ideas for a third installment in the series, and he's tempted to strike while the iron is still hot. "I have a Moleskine notebook that I take with me everywhere and I write stuff in all the time." he says. “For me, the first 80 percent of the process is doodling in notebooks and structuring everything. I'm trying to move forward. Even though I'm doing all the publicity for this film, I'm trying to build a structure, an idea, so that after New Year's Eve, when I get to work, hopefully I'm not just staring at that horrible blank page. But you always are, I guess.”
