FRIDAY UPDATE: It looks like Netflix has a real box office hit on its hands Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. meeting has revised box office numbers up, with the film targeting a $13.8 million five-day holiday weekend. While that doesn't sound like much, the movie is only open on 638 screens. The average per screen will likely be the highest in the top 10. Meanwhile, Disney's strange world crater, with a $20-23 million five-day weekend on the cards. Not a good start for the popular Disney film. Could it be that the rapid release of animated films on Disney Plus is encouraging audiences to simply wait for its upcoming streaming debut? However, expect plenty of holiday cheer at Haus der Maus, with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever still on track for a five-day weekend worth $55-$60 million - a great result that will help the film get closer to the $400 million mark.

ORIGINAL POST: The Thanksgiving weekend numbers have started trickling in, while some have something to be thankful for (Hello glass onion) others unfortunately do not live up to their expectations (sorry strange world).

Let's start with the good news Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is seeing slightly better than expected results with $10 million on Wednesday for expected weekend earnings of $43 million with 5-day earnings ranging from $55 million to $60 million. Pretty much what was expected of week three of this blockbuster sequel.

Disney used to be the king of hit animated film, unfortunately they are also the kings of massive animation (and live action) bombs! Unfortunately, that is the case with them strange world That envisages just under $16 million for the weekend with around $20 million for the 5-day recording. As I said in my prediction, the marketing of this one just didn't do anything for me and I could absolutely see it becoming a big ole bombshell (granted, I also said in the same sentence it could be a big hit, but that doesn't matter now !) With a reported production budget of $135 million, this will be a significant dent in Disney's ledger.

The unprecedented release of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery in 638 theaters is proving hugely successful as the Netflix title was just over $2 million on Wednesday with a weekend forecast of $8.5 and a 5-day price of between $10 million and $13 million Dollar. That's a pretty solid deal for a film from a studio that's traditionally resisted the theatrical model and has never reported box office numbers. Maybe Ted Sarandos can see how lucrative it is in the long run to become a theater studio (and if that happens, maybe they can also see how lucrative it would still be for people like me to have some of these original titles on physical media with added features have huge libraries to publish!) The rest of this weekend's newer titles encompasses dedication Win $1.8 million on Wednesday for an estimated 5-day earnings of just over $10 million while Steven Spielberg's Oscar hopeful The Fabelmans appears to be his second box office blunder in a row (after the last few years Westside Story) since it looks like a 5-day earnings of only $3 million.
